Following the trench warfare of the Great War where in the broken ground Poppies flourished it is no wonder they became the symbol for remembrance by most of the Allied Nations, i.e. Canada, United Kingdom, USA, South Africa and India*     (* India since 2018 now has it’ own symbol for suffering – the Marigold)
